Lying at the confluence of the Mutha and Mula rivers, the city of Pune is home to the well-known spiritual hub, the Osho International Meditation Centre. Featuring a treasure of historically significant heritage sites there are multiple Forts which you can visit which will offer you some spectacular sights.
1. Sinhagad Fort
Sinhagad, Sinhgarh, or Sinhgad, is a fortress located roughly 30 kilometres southwest of the city of Pune, India. Previously called Kondhana, the fort has been the site of many important battles, most notably the Battle of Sinhagad in 1671.
2. Tung Fort
It is about 12 km from Malawli railway station and can also be approached from Lonavala. Tung Fort has an elevation of 1075 m above sea level. After the building of Pawna dam, it is now surrounded by water on three sides. One can ferry across in a boat from Pawna dam to its base village, Tungi.
3. Lohagad Fort
Lohagad is one of the many hill forts of Maharashtra state in India. Situated close to the hill station Lonavala and 52 km northwest of Pune, Lohagad rises to an elevation of 1,033 m above sea level.
4. Khadakwasla Dam
Khadakwasla Dam is a dam on the Mutha River 20 km from the city of Pune in Maharashtra, India. This dam across the river Mutha created an attractive lake, now known as Khadakwasla Lake. This lake is the main source of water for Pune and its suburbs.
5. Mulshi Dam
Mulshi is the name of a major dam on the Mula river in India. It is located in the Mulshi taluka administrative division of the Pune district of Maharashtra State
6. Lavasa
Lavasa is a private, planned city being built near Pune. It is stylistically based on the Italian town Portofino, with a street and several buildings bearing the name of that town.
7. Bhigwan
Bhigwan is a small dusty town on the border of Pune and Solapur district in Central Maharashtra, in India. It is located on the Pune-Solapur Highway around 105 km from Pune on the backwaters of Ujani dam.
